CONSENSUSWORKS Consultants Inc. draws on the experience of more than two decades of domestic and international engagement in strategic communications programming on sustainability in the resource and manufacturing industries in British Columbia, as well as Canada, the US, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Tom Tevlin, President of CONSENSUSWORKS Consultants Inc., has worked with global industry leaders, governments, and environmental/social agencies to establish environmental reputation management campaigns related to forestry, mining, energy, aquaculture, biotechnology, polymers and other sectors, and has participated in every stage of campaign planning and execution from research to implementation to evaluation.

Tom has led several delegations to UN sessions in New York, Geneva, the Hague, Denpasar, Cancun, Copenhagen and Johannesburg in order to influence the UN Commission on Sustainable Development regarding its proposed instruments on forests, biodiversity and climate; played key roles in industry and market adoption campaigns in North America related to a range of certification schemes including CSA, FSC, SFI and ISO systems; made representations to Olympic Bid committees and related groups on sustainability policy, and appeared before numerous US municipal councils and met with dozens of fortune 500s and other organizations to discuss sustainable procurement.

A journalist by training, Tom served as a founding team-member of the Forest Alliance, where he held various successive positions over the life of the organization, including Executive Director, President and Chief Executive.

He’s been a member of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Forestry Advisory Council, a number of working committees of Forest Products Association of Canada and the North America-wide Wood Promotion Network, PricewaterhouseCoopers ISO External Oversight Committee, and the BC Provincial Minister’s Advisory Council on Certification as well as the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers’ Criteria & Indicators Technical Working Group.

Tom led the industry-supported Forest Alliance in a successful bid to become the first association of its type in the world to gain membership in the Forest Stewardship Council. He has designed and executed communications campaigns in Europe, Brazil, the U.S. as well as within Canada regarding British Columbia’s sustainable forest management and environmental reputation. 

Through his leadership of Greenspirit Strategies Ltd. where he is also President, Tom has participated in one-on-one meetings with dozens of members of the US Congress and their staff as well as dozens of State officials across the US, all on the topic of a sustainable energy supply for America.

Most recently, CONSENSUSWORKS Consultants Inc. has assisted organizations in sustainability-related market communications and stakeholder engagement campaigns in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, working with a team of professionals with whom he’s developed a seamless interaction, winning strategies and a strong ability to execute.
